In an unusual theft, gold worth ₹ 20 million was stolen from the trunk of the Pakistani jewelry cabin during flights from Dubai to Karachi, according to media reports on Monday.
Mohammad Moonis lost 1,542 grams of gold during international flights on Sunday afternoon, the Express Tribune newspaper reported.
Although the flight crew searched it after the flight landed in Karachi, gold could not be restored.
The jewelry said that during the flight, one and a half kilograms of gold disappeared from the bag stored in the aircraft cabin. He added that he told the cabin crew about gold that was lost during the flight.
The victim said that after landing, the Airport Security Force (ASF) made 100 percent of passengers scanning to find missing gold. However, gold stolen during the flight cannot be restored. This airline is not mentioned in the report.
Passengers also inform the customs authority in advance about carrying gold to Pakistan.
According to sources close to PTI, travelers legally bring back half of the value of jewelry that is legally exported in the form of gold. The gold was owned by Naurattan Jewellers of Karachi.
Customs officials in charge of telling the newspaper that detailed search for aircraft is based on passenger reports.
The Customs Authority indicates that the theft might have occurred at the time of departure from Dubai International Airport, but affected passengers stated that the existence of gold was confirmed during the flight and that it was stolen in inflight.
This is the second incident of unusual theft in this country.
Previously, a luxury sedan, Bentley Mulsanne, was found from Karachi by Pakistan’s customs under the ‘mysterious’ state after a British law enforcement agent told the authorities.
The vehicle was reportedly stolen in London.
