The U.S. isn’t during a rush to recognise the new Taliban-led interim government in Afghanistan but was engaged with the people that are now overseeing and controlling the country to urge the americans out of the strife-torn nation, consistent with a top White House official The Taliban insurgents seized control of Afghanistan in mid-August, ousting the previous elected leadership which was backed by the West.
The Taliban on Tuesday announced a caretaker Cabinet led by Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, with key roles being shared by high-profile members of the hardline Islamist group, including a specially designated global terrorist of the dreaded Haqqani Network because the Interior Minister Responding to a spate of questions on the interim Cabinet announced by the Taliban, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Wednesday that the U.S. wasn’t rushing to recognise the new regime in Kabul.
“No one during this administration, not the President nor anyone on the national security team, would suggest that the Taliban are respected and valued members of the worldwide community. they need not earned that in any way, and that we haven’t assessed that. this is often a caretaker Cabinet that does include four former imprisoned Taliban fighters,” Ms. Psaki said The Joe Biden administration has not validated that, she said.
“We haven’t conveyed we’re getting to recognise it and nor are we rushing to recognition. There’s tons they need to try to to before that. What we are working to try to to is to interact with them because they oversee and control Afghanistan immediately to urge americans , legal permanent residents, Special Immigration Visa (SPV) applicants out of Afghanistan,” Ms. Psaki said We need to engage with them,” she said.
“But to interact with them – their new acting Interior Minister may be a Haqqani Network terrorist. He’s wanted for a bombing that killed six people, including an American. He’s believed to possess participated in cross-border attacks against the U.S. troops. There’s a $10-million bounty on his head. Why are we engaging?” she asked.
Taliban’s hardline interim government includes specially designated global terrorist Sirajuddin Haqqani because the acting Interior Minister.
“Should we not ask the people that are overseeing Afghanistan and just leave it and not get the remainder of the americans out?” the White House Press Secretary asked. The international community, she reiterated, is watching.
“The us is watching. It’s whether or not they let people depart the country who want to depart, whether or not they treat women across the country as they need committed to treat them and the way they behave and operate. And, therefore, we’re not moving toward recognition,” she insisted.
“At an equivalent time, we’re handling a reality world here where we’ve to interact so as to urge americans et al. out of the country,” she said.
Meanwhile, House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul-led committee of Republicans, during a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, urged her to continue the U.S. sanctions against the Taliban.
“With the withdrawal of all the U.S. military forces and diplomatic personnel having been completed while Americans and thousands of our Afghan allies remain trapped on the bottom , the Taliban holds all the cards.
