Prince William on Saturday promised to honor the memory of Queen Elizabeth II by supporting his father, King Charles III, “in all things”, in a sincere statement after the death of his grandmother.
In his first comment since the death of the Queen and as the newly appointed Prince of Wales, William, 40, said “will be the time before the reality of life without grannie will really feel real”.
William has become the heir now because his father is King, with the hope that the time above the throne will come faster than later.
Charles, 73, waited for almost all of his life to replace his mother but rose the throne when most people have retired.
William in recent years took more official tasks because of the age of the queen and poor health in a clear sign of his role in the future.
He called Ratu, who died on Thursday aged 96, a “extraordinary leader”, praised the commitment of “absolute” for Britain, the Commonwealth and 14 other countries in which he was also the Head of State.
“So much will be said in the future days about the meaning of his historic government,” he added.
“However, I have lost a grandmother. And while I grieve at her loss, I also feel very grateful.”
William – Charles’s eldest son from his first marriage with the late Princess Diana – said he benefited from the wisdom and certainty of the queen throughout his life.
He has offered guidance and support to his wife, Catherine, while three couples’ children – George, Charlotte and Louis – will have memories for life from the holidays they spend with him.
“He was by my side at the happiest time. And he was by my side during the saddest days in my life,” William said.
“I know today will come, but that will happen some time before the reality of life without grannie will really feel real.
“I am grateful for the kindness he showed my family and me.
“And I thank him for the name of my generation for giving examples of services and dignity in public life that comes from different ages, but is always relevant to us all.
“My grandmother is famous saying that sadness is the price we pay for love.
“All the sadness that we will feel in the coming weeks will be proof of the love that we feel for our extraordinary queen.
“I will respect his memory by supporting my father, King, in everything I can.”
