ZEE5, the video streaming service owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, will premiere the espionage drama titled Mukhbir – The Story of a Spy. The series tells the inspiring tale of an Indian secret agent working in Pakistan who’s on a quest to protect his country and shift the tide of the war. The ensemble cast of Mukhbir, directed by Shivam Nair and Jayprad Desai, includes Zain Khan Durrani, Prakash Raj, Adil Hussain, Barkha Sengupta, Harsh Chhaya, Satyadeep Mishra and Zoya Afroz in prominent roles. The trailer for Mukhbir – The Story of a Spy was released recently and it was well-received by the audience.
Based on a news source, directors Shivam Nair and Jayprad Desai stated that: “In India, we haven’t dabbled much in the genre of ‘Historical Fiction’. ‘Mukhbir’, set against the backdrop of the 1965 Indo-Pak war and inspired by true events tells a fictionalized story of an Indian spy whose information helped India win the war. With the limbs of a spy thriller, ‘Mukhbir’ at its heart is a human drama. While the plot unfolding will keep the audience glued to their screens, the inherent dilemma of a man torn between his duty and heart will move them deeply. We hope that ‘Mukhbir’ leaves an everlasting impact on viewers.”
According to the show’s producer Vaibhav Modi, “Creating a period drama with true historic events as the backdrop is a challenge as well as an opportunity. He also added, “We are grateful to them for extending this opportunity to Victor Tango and are very proud of ourselves to have turned this challenge into a brilliant series. It’s a unique story of how some exemplary men and women work in the shadows to ensure the safety of India.”

The eight-episode web series revolves around an Indian secret agent who helped India defeat the enemy during the war of 1965. The spy aided the country in dodging numerous of its strong attacks.
