Astudy conducted by South African experimenters on the base of surveillance data has plant that there’s an increased threat of Covid-19 reinfection associated with the new Omicron variant of coronavirus. This is the first data- grounded study to suggest that Omicron may shirk impunity from previous infection “Population-level substantiation suggests that the Omicron variant is associated with substantial capability to shirk impunity from previous infection. In discrepancy, there’s no population-wide epidemiological substantiation of vulnerable escape associated with the Beta or Delta variants,”the study countries.

The study infers that the spread of the Beta and Delta variants of Covid-19 was due to increased transmissibility, rather than capability to shirk impunity We find substantiation of a substantial and ongoing increase in the threat of reinfection that’s temporally harmonious with the timing of the emergence of the Omicron variant in South Africa, suggesting that its selection advantage is at least incompletely driven by an increased capability to infect preliminarily infected individualities,”the experimenters observed.

The study, which has not yet been peer- reviewed, concludes that the increased threat of reinfection that Omicron poses can have important counteraccusations for public health planning, especially in nations which have developed high rates of impunity via previous infection. It isn’t yet known whether Omicron can also shirk vaccine- convinced impunity.

CAN OMICRON Shirk VACCINE Impunity?

Juliet Pulliam, one of the experimenters and director of the South African DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis at Stellenbosch University, took to Twitter to state that no assessment can be made on Omicron’s capability to shirk vaccine impunity on the base of this study We don’t have information about the vaccination status of individualities in our data set and thus can not make any assessment of whether Omicron also evades vaccine- deduced impunity,”she wrote.

She noted that the coming way include quantifying the” extent of Omicron’s vulnerable escape for both natural and vaccine- deduced impunity as well as its transmissibility relative to other variants”.”Data are also urgently demanded on complaint inflexibility associated with Omicron infection,”Juliet Pulliam said.
