Robert Eggers new history epic, Northman headed to the cinema at the end of April and had to come to Netflix in the US and other regions throughout the world but not for several years.Starring Ethan Hawke, Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman, this new film followed a young viking prince in his efforts to reply to his father’s murder.
The film has received a warm welcome with him currently carrying 83 to Metacritic giving the coveted “mandatory” badge. Collider states that this is one of Robert Eggers’s best films until now.
Will The Northman be on Netflix in the United States?
Yes, but it won’t come in the near future. In fact, if you only use Netflix, you have years-a year to wait before available.The reason coming to Netflix is thanks to the extensive agreement achieved by Netflix with Universal in 2021 which means that all universal films come to Netflix even though with live-action films come long after the theater release.
This is part of a new agreement that will include Northman.”As part of an agreement, Netflix will also license the right to full animation and direct action from UFEG about 4 years after the release and the right to choose the title of a broad universal film library.”
Northman is not a universal release considering that the focus feature is distributing. Focus features, however, are included in the UFEG portfolio (Universal Filmed Entertainment Group).That means we expect Northman at Netflix in 2026. Yes, it’s still far away.DVD Netflix services in the US will bring films at the end of 2022 and Peacock will receive films in the summer.
Will The Northman be on Netflix in the United States?
Outside of the United States, Universal Pictures handles distribution film which means that we must see the film appearing in services that have received universal films.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the right specifics per region but as we did for our ambulance (the release of other universal films) predictions, we can use the previous release to guess which areas will receive Northman and when. South Korea currently gets a new universal that receives new universal films about 9 months after being released in theaters. It was the case for F9 who arrived at Netflix South Korea in April 2022, for example. If that happens to Northman, we will see films added at the end of 2022 or early 2023.
The next area set which made Universal film do it about 2 years after their theater debut. The region of this area includes Britain, Australia, Israel, Poland, Turkey, and others. In this case, you can expect Northman to be available in 2024.
Outside of this region, there is no fixed pattern which means we do not predict Northman will be available in the near future which means you have to use other methods to watch. Peacock slowly launched throughout the world which is expected to be the default streaming house for all universal films.
